Symptoms, Causes, Prevention and Treatment Of Heart Attack.

Heart Attack

Heart is the most important organ of our body because it works all the time. Heart Attack is also called myocardial infarction.About 7 million peoples die due to heart attack and other cardiovacular diseases.
Today we will know about heart attack which is most common in old age people and it kills more than millions of people every year.
As oxygen is very important for our body muscles to perform different functions similarly heart is also a muscle therefore it also needs oxygen to perform its functions.
During heart attack heart muscles does not get oxygen to perform its function.

How blood supply stops to heart?

As we all know that arteries supply oxygenated blood to all parts of the body. The arteries which supply oxygenated blood to the heart are coronary arteries. When we eat too much fatty foods or when we eat those foods in which the lipids levels are too high then due to these lipids or fats blockage is formed in these coronary arteries. When our age increases then these blockage are also increased. And then a stage will come in which it blocks the whole coronary artery therefore the blood supply to the heart also stops and the heart muscles need blood supply to perform its function therefore the heart muscle died and heart attack occurs.

What are the most common causes of heart attack?

The formation of a blood clot is the most common cause of a coronary artery blockage other less common causes of coronary artery blockage include a coronary artery spasm, which is triggered by drugs, smoking, cold weather or extreme stress resulting in a sudden tightening of the coronary artery or a coronary artery dissection in which the inside wall of the coronary artery separates leading to a blockage to the blood flow such a blockage to either of the coronary arteries results in oxygen and nutrients failing to reach the heart.

What are the symptoms of heart attack?

Following are the symptoms of heart attack.
  • Chest pain or tightness of chest
The most common symptom of myocardial infarction is that the patients feel tightness, pressure, or. squeezing in chest. This pain occurs in the muscles that suffer from lack of oxygen. This pain will be in center or left side of heart. You will feel like elephant is setting on chest.
You can also feel that your pain is moving from chest to shoulders or pain is moving from chest to Jaws or some people have only pain in their Jaws. It may also move to neck, right arm and back.
But remember all the pains in shoulder or chest is not due to heart attack.
  • Nausea
Some patients are also suffered with nausea. Nausea means like to feel bad. So some patients have also nausea as a symptom of heart attack.
  • Vomiting
The other symptom of heart attack is vomiting.
  • Dizziness
Dizziness is also the symptom of heart attack.
  • Difficulty in breathing
The patients of heart attack also have difficulty in breathing.
  • Get angry
The patients of heart attack become angry without any reasons.
  • Sweating
Sometimes the symptom of heart attack is also sweating.

What are the complications due to heart attack?
  • First complication due to heart attack is that the patient's blood pressure is high and cholesterol level is also high.
  • Second Complication due to heart attack is that the patient is also at higher risk of paralysis.
Some general information about heart attack

1. The symptoms of heart attack in women and elders are less prominent.

2.In diabetes patients symptoms of heart attack does not appear.

4.The patient feel unhappy and become sad on everyone talk.

5.Sometimes heart attack occurs without symptoms of chest pain. It is called silent heart attack. It is more common in the elderly and in patients with diabetes

What is Angina?

Heart attack and angina are basically the same process but angina pectoris is the chest pain due to lack of oxygen supply to the heart muscle. It is basically from 4-8 minuites. And the patients feel pain in their chest. And it does not damages the heart and become well after a few minutes.

What is heart failure?

In heart failure the pumping of blood by the heart is reduced. And pumping is the main function of heart. So in heart failure this is reduced.

Treatment of Heart Attack

Immediate treatment of myocardial infarction includes oxygen supply, aspirin and sublingual tablet of glyceryl trinitrate.

1.For treating myocardial infarction or heart attack the blocked artery is opened by a technique called angioplasty. In this treatment a balloon-tip catheter is passed in their artery. At the location of blockage, the balloon is inflated. It clears the blockage and the artery opens.

2.Second treatment is that a metallic ring called Stent is placed at the site so that artery remains open.

3. Another treatment of myocardial infarction is called bypass surgery. In this treatment a vessel is taken from some other part of the body and is grafted from aorta to the coronary artery. This vessel starts supplying blood to the heart muscles by passing the original blocked artery.
